LENTAS – SEASIDE VILLAGE
Lentas is a picturesque seaside village located 74 km south of Heraklion, at the foot of the impressive Asterousia Mountains. It is a peaceful tourist resort with a small harbor and mild development, ideal for relaxing family holidays.
Access is via an asphalt road through the villages of Miamou and Krotos, offering breathtaking views of the South Cretan Sea and the coast of Lentas.
THE ASKLEPIEION
Levina flourished during the Greco-Roman period as the port of Gortyna and as a sacred city where Asclepius and Hygieia Soteira were worshipped.
The Asklepieion reached its peak during the Roman Imperial period. The oldest monument of Levina is the Treasury, a square well 1,090 m deep, dating from the 2nd or 1st century BC.
BEACHES
To the right and left of the bay of Lentas there are countless picturesque coves, small bays, and crystal-clear beaches with fine pebbles or smooth stones that give the deep waters their grey-green shades.
The most well-known are Dytiko, Loutra, where a mooring facility for private tourist boats was recently constructed, and Trafoulas.
